Eric N. Sanderson

I am 25 years old, (on the right in picture I was low gross not low net) I began playing at the age of 7. I qualified For the New Mexico High School State Championship all 4 years and won my senior year (May 2001) with a score of 71/75. That summer I was invited to the north south all-star tournament where I posted 69/70. After that I struggled with my game at the university of southern colorado and left after one semester at the end of 2001. I then studied civil engineering at Trinidad State Junior College eventually graduating (May 2003). That year I played in the first round of the US open qualifier and shot 73 missing the second round by one stroke. I then went to West Texas A&M where I stayed until April of 2005. I was married and decided to move back to my home town of Raton, New Mexico where I put my clubs in the closet unless local friends asked me to play in tournaments. On my birthday this year (8-25-08) i decided to grab my clubs and prepare for the club championship. I payed my dues and got a ghin number and began to practice. I shot 77,76,78 for a few of my 1st rounds then I remembered Cougar Canyon Golf Links had opened about 40 mins from where I live. I teed it up from the blacks measuring 7600 yards and rating 76.2 slope 139 and I end up shooting 78 my 1st five holes were bogey,bogey,double bogey,birdie,birdie. I can't say it was my best round but it was solid. I practiced every day and on Oct. 4th and 5th I played the club championship shooting 66 the first day and 70 the second day for a total of -6(rating68.6 slope120). On each of these days I had one double bogey costing me 4 strokes. I know with a little practice I can polish my game and not have any double bogeys.(no penalties were taken either day both db's were my mistakes). I wish to play in professional tournaments (Nationwide tour, Gateway tour, Tight lies tour) to prove my abilities and eventually try for the PGA. I Will try to qualify for the 2009 US Open. In 2004 when I put my clubs up I was posting an average score of 69. Today I feel more mature and I feel like I understand the mental aspects of the game more now than every before.
